The Hymns to Freedom Project

Inspired by the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, composer Corey Butler, has created moving classical orchestrations to communicate the story of African American culture supported by a diverse orchestra and renowned singer, Jackie Richardson. Butler’s compositions fuse Classical Music and the Negro Spiritual and highlights the unlikely influences the genres have on each other. Tension and resolution in the pieces are juxtaposed against past and present racial environments and shows that when united, our differences can blend to create masterpieces. The show communicates the ideals of love, respect and unity to all and promises to entertain and challenge guests with the message that, We Are Better Together. National Christian Youth Summit

The Big Give

On the first Saturday of June each year, churches of all denominations under the umbrella of The Big Give host a local customized community event where everything is offered free to those who need it most and ask nothing in return.

Local customized events have included, but are not limited to, free garage sales, gently used clothing and toys, BBQ’s, car washes, bike repairs and movies in the park. Each church customizes their event to meet the specific needs of their neighbourhood. DEMENTIA FRIENDLY SERVICE

Dementia Friendly Hymn Sing and Worship for caregivers and their loved ones. Held every Friday at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, 10030 Yonge St., Richmond Hill. This FREE event is led by Dr. (Chaplain) Tom and Chaplain Ron.  There are 15,000 individuals in York region that have a dementia diagnosis. 70% live in their homes/ with family. DivorceCare

DivorceCare is a support group for men and women that have been divorced or separated and are contemplating divorce. Whether you have divorced for many years or just recently, this group provides a comfortable, friendly setting for you to be able to share in your experiences.  Each week, a different topic associated with the pain and trauma of divorce is addressed, followed by group discussions on that topic.  Many people have found healing through this support group and feel empowered to rebuild their broken lives and live out their destiny.

DivorceCare FOR KIDS

This 13-week program sees a group of children and their adult leaders hear stories about other kids in this situation on a DVD video each week. Together we do theme related crafts, games, and we hear scripture and Bible stories. The program helps children of divorce communicate their feelings and build healthy relationships within their current family structure. Session begins September 13th - Dec. 6th. This is session where you can sit for the stretching and exercises.  Scripture accompanies every Praise Moves posture!  Designed for those with limited mobility.

Wednesdays, 7:30–8:30pm

This session is a low impact with stretching and strengthening exercises accompanied with Scriptures.  An exercise mat is recommended.

 

Praise Kicks

Thursdays, 7:00-7:45pm

Kicks is a low-impact cardio session.
